Marines,

On Thursday, November 14, 2019, Dick Jennings resigned as MCL Department of California Commandant. The reason for his resignation was personal/family and medically related. This action created a movement of officers within the Department.

For your information, the current Board of Trustees officers include:

  1. Jim Loorya, Commandant.
  2. Juan Pascacio, Senior Vice Commandant.
  3. J. T. Bikul, Junior Vice Commandant (newly appointed).
  4. John Kagy, Judge Advocate.
  5. Ray Valenzuela, Jr. Past Commandant.

These changes and the acceptance of resignation letter were all made in accordance with the MCL Department of California bylaws. These items were additionally voted on and unanimously approved by the Department Board of Trustees on November 18, 2019.

The mission of the Detachments/Department will remain basically the same. We will move on with the next major event being the spring conference in March in the city of Van Nuys. This conference will be hosted by Detachment 1277 and will include training of various officers and the announcement of a new training program for current and future officers that will be called “The Leadership Academy“.  It is our hope that this training program will lead to certification and continued education of our Detachment and Department officers.

I look forward to seeing all of you at the Spring conference in Van Nuys.

Semper Fidelis,

Jim Loorya
Commandant
Department of California
MCL
